7. Attaching a Lamp

So far we have only 'driven' the car forwards and backwards. But the RCX cart can be programmed to do much much more!

This and the the next few exercises concentrate on using Lamps which we can attach to the cart.

Lamps, like motors are attached to port A, B or C. But as the motors are attached to ports A and C, we shall always be using Port B

Here we will create a program that

  1. Gets the cart to move forwards for 4 seconds
  2. With the lamp turned on. 
  3. It should then stop moving and
  4. then move backwards for 4 seconds.
  5. With the lamp still turned on.

What you have to do!

  1. Plan your program by completing Task 10 in your Robolab Progress Extension Grids
  2. Start the Robolab Software - if it isn't already open..
  3. Create the program and transfer it to the cart.
      • If you run out of space you can carry your icons down onto another line.
  4. Once the program is working correctly Tick Off Task 7 in the main Robolab Progress Grids.

EMVIEW - a wheeled robot built by Hitachi to help to look after children and work around the home.
QRIO - Another walking robot built by Sony. Can sense heat and surfaces, recognize people through their voice or face, and respond with gestures or words to questions
